Solid groundwork -- An important contribution to the overall conversation. Perhaps, when you say “This influence is powerful. Jesus does not force or manipulate others to come to Him but simply reveals who He is” we could used that a metaphorical archetype for creativity – we must not manipulate but simply reveal.

Understanding the burden of critical thinking and persuasion could not be a more relevant topic for the issue we face today both as a culture and Christian community. We are barraged everyday with countless concepts and opinions of individuals and media alike. It is a constant battle to search for and discern the truth, if we are not diligent to foster a mind of logic and reason with which to discern what is true we fall at the mercy of those who's opinion we adopt without critique. The task of persuasion is no less pertinent a skill than is critical thinking. If we are to stand as harbingers of truth we must do so with the faculties and capacity to reason and discern the complexity of the truth we assert. As Christians, ignorance and hypocrisy are two of the greatest criticisms with which we have been labeled. If we are not concerned with bolstering and practicing critical thought we will be no closer to overcoming the stereotype which so detrimentally plagues our community. Thank you Lacey for conveying with clear articulation both the pertinence of acknowledging this truth and the Biblically mandated obligation to practice it in our own lives.
