Last October, TED (Technology Entertainment and Design), a non-profit that desires for the world to share their ideas with one another, awarded JR the TED prize for 2011. This prestigious award donates $100,000 dollars to the recipient in order that they make a wish that will change the world. JR recently presented at TED conference sharing his wish “I wish for you to stand up for what you care about by participating in a global art project, and together we’ll turn the world…INSIDE OUT.” In his presentation he offered up some of the most innovative art that I’ve ever seen. Traveling across the world and placing graffiti in the most unlikely of places. He says,“I would like to bring art to improbable places, create projects so huge with the community that they are forced to ask themselves questions.”
His work is truly inspirational. Watch the presentation at TED here, check out JR’s site where he’s working to change the world here, read a bio on JR here and take a look at some of his work close up here.
