Taking advice from a class mate, I decided to do some research on specific actors. I was a big fan of the film “Extreme Days” and mentioned it prior on this site, but I wanted to see what my class mate was talking about when she had mentioned the bad movies that some of the actors went to do after the making of this film.
What I discovered was totally different from the film I had seen. Rather than continue to act in roles that are glorifying to God I witnessed profanity, using God’s very name in a show. One of the other actors starred in “Out Cold,” a comedy that may be funny but very crude and inappropriate in terms of language and sexual orientation. I do not judge but I do speculate and declare my stance on this issue of an actor who chooses to act as a christian and then a man who supports gay rights and cursing God out.
I do not know if any of these actors claim to be Christan or not. What I do want to get across is the very obvious fact that just because an actor acts like a christian does not mean that he or she is the very person they are acting like. That is why it is called acting.
But is it hypocritical to do such things? I think that it can be very beneficial for a non christian to act as a christian. Though the actor is by no way agreeing with the very character they play the actor has already taken some type of mindset that will reflect his character. Christians would also be working with the actor(s) and then relationships are made and the actor(s) will hopefully see God through working together on a Christian based film such as Extreme Days.
