This article written by Andrea Seabrook, got me thinking about about how sometimes movements with very clear indentities and values can find themselves with precarious bedfellows.  An anolog that demonstrates this point would be the overwhelming acceptance of the non-religious Itelligent Design movement by the seemingly uncompromising  Young Earth Creationists.   The ID guys don’t even explicitly believe that there is a God.  The designer, to them, might as well be an alien.

And to follow this trend, how does the radical (religious)  right get themselves to a position where, somehow, they are  fully endorsing a type of economic and social policy that stems from an inherently non-religious system typified by Ayn Rand’s objectivism in “Atlas Shrugged“?  Strange bedfellows.

To summarize, Rand’s views necessitated the idea that there was no God.  Does it not seem strange that Right-wing conservatives, which are usually Christian (or at least claim to be) embrace a system that coincides with Rand’s atheism.

To evaluate whether this is a good or bad thing would be a more difficult process, and I’m not making any calls right now.  It simply is.  It is strange.  It is unusual.
